Power Soccer’s World Cup will be held sometime in 2011.  The United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA) intends to form and send the best possible team to represent the United States of America and defend its title from 2007.  Additionally, USPSA will send a delegation to represent the USA as a member of the Federation Internationale de Powerchair Football Association (FIPFA). The USA team will consist of a head coach, one or more assistant coaches, eight power soccer athletes (plus up to 4 alternates), a team manager, finance manager, a team nurse and an equipment manager.  The US delegation will include one or more USPSA representatives and at least two top-level referees.

To be considered for this international event, all candidates are required to complete an application and submit to the USPSA President. Applications will be accepted by the following schedule:

• Head Coach - November 1, 2008 - December 31, 2008.
• Coaches, referees and staff applicants - January 1, 2009 - March 31, 2009.  
• Players - April 1, 2009 - June 15, 2009.

All nominations will be carefully considered and each candidate will be personally notified of the final decision.  The Head Coach applications will be reviewed by the USPSA International Committee and will recommend a candidate to the USPSA Executive Committee by January 15, 2009. The goal is to finalize the selection of the coaching staff before April 30, 2009.  The formal announcement of the name of the person selected as Head Coach will be made by the USPSA Executive Committee.

The USPSA Executive Committee will approve the remaining USA team staff by April 30, 2009.

Players will go through a two-tier selection process: 

• An initial pool of 20-25 candidates will be selected by June 30, 2009 by the coaching staff for approval by the USPSA Executive Committee. The actual number of players invited will be determined by the coaching staff.  The selected players will be invited to a tryout camp at a location and date yet to be determined.
• The final player selections will take place following the tryout camp and be presented by the coaching staff to the USPSA Executive Committee for approval. 

Age Requirements

• Power Soccer Athlete (must be 16 or older by first World Cup match)
• Head Coach (must be 25 or older by 1 July 2008)
• Assistant Coach
• Team Manager (must be 25 or older by 1 July 2008)
• Team Nurse
• Equipment Manager
• Referee (must be 21 or older by 1 July 2008) 
• Finance Manager   (must be 25 or older by 1 July 2008) 

Athletes - Submit Video Footage - from Chris Finn

I would like each athlete applying for the USA National Power Soccer Team to submit video footage in DVD format of your play this year.  I would like specific footage of 1) 10-20 minutes of you playing with your team preferably in a regional or local competition, and of 2) you doing the following drills listed below.  Providing this video footage will help me make a more informed selection based on your abilities especially for those applicants who I may not be familiar with.  I am sending this request out now to give you ample time to practice and videotape the drills and potentially videotape your team playing at a regional tournament.  When videotaping team play use a wide camera shot to catch all of the offensive and defensive team play, not just you as an individual.  I would prefer one 10-20 minute video segment, but if for any reason you are unable to produce this please include 2-4 segments no shorter than five minutes each. Please complete the following drills 5 times.  I am looking for accuracy and controlled power on your kicks.  When videotaping please do not edit the video and complete all five repetitions of each drill in a row before moving on to the next drill.
