Tournament Selection Committee
Announcements

Dear USPSA Members,

The bid packet for 2012 Conference Cup tournaments is now available for download on the USPSA website (Downloads » Games and Tournaments). The bid packet is due back to the Tournament Selection Committee one month from today, October 27th.

We encourage all teams to review the packet and consider bidding to host your Conference Cup tournament. Now that almost every team has had the experience of attending a national tournament, we hope more teams will have the desire to host a Conference Cup. It is a lot of work and a big responsibility, but it is very rewarding as well.

In January, the conference hosts will be given a deposit of $500 for every team in their conference. These deposits will help the host organization with some initial costs (meal catering, facility rentals, etc) of hosting the tournament. That $500 will then be subtracted from each team's final tournament registration costs later in the year.

The Team-Conference alignments will be announced after all returning teams have registered. You can specify in the form that you would like to host your team's Conference Cup even if it is not yet known.

If you have any questions, contact Jonathan Newman, Chairman...

Welcome back to POWER SOCCER! Last season, the first under the Conference system, brought about some exciting changes. There were over 350 games played and four national Conference Cup Finals. Overall, we feel the Conference system worked out very well and we are excited for more teams to join in the fun this season.

Conference Teams will be realigned based on the results of the Conference Cup Tournaments over the summer. The complete Team-Conference alignment can only be announced after all returning teams have registered, so it's very important to REGISTER EARLY!!!

There are three levels of involvement for power soccer teams.

  • Teams that want to be in the competitive level of Conference play must play a minimum of 12 games, two (2) of which must be against teams in the same conference or higher, as well as participate in the post-season tournament.
  • Teams who don't wish to be quite as competitive or travel should register as a Non-Conference team. Non-conference teams can still play competitive, sanctioned USPSA games, but there is no minimum number of games to play and no end-of-season tournament.
  • Brand new power soccer programs may want to start...

Dear Members of the USPSA,

Is there someone on your team that shines on and off the court? Do you have an athlete that truly represents what your team is all about? If so, we want to get to know them!

All of us involved with Power Soccer are a fairly close-knit community, all bonded by the sport we love. However, with over 60 teams and hundreds of athletes around the country, it's hard to be familiar with, and to know everyone. In an effort to bring this community a little closer together, the USPSA would like to feature a player on your team in an upcoming USPSA newsletter.

If you and your team have someone that you would like to nominate for this player spotlight, please send an e-mail to USPSA Marketing Committee Chair, Case Calvert, at: marketing [at] powersoccerusa [dot] net. We will feature one player a month in the USPSA newsletter. Thank you for helping to bring our Power Soccer family closer together. We can't wait to hear from you!

Sincerely,
USPSA Marketing Committee

Dear Members of the USPSA,

The 2010 USPSA season is now underway and we are looking forward to having another successful year of power soccer. Since its inception, we have seen the USPSA and the sport of power soccer grow and develop in cities and states across the country. While we are pleased with the success of the organization, we know there are many opportunities to increase our presence around the United States. With this in mind, the USPSA Marketing Committee is creating the "Power Soccer Outreach Program."

The main goal of this program is to provide our current USPSA teams with marketing materials and guidance to help promote power soccer in their local areas and networks. The materials will include USPSA brochures, the "How to Run a Clinic" booklet, business cards, and a "Question and Answer Pamphlet." These materials will help you to effectively market the sport in your area and give you the appropriate tools and support needed.

This Outreach Program will not only benefit the USPSA, but by promoting power soccer in your area it will also benefit your program. Teams can grow two ways; by increasing the players on your team you will have the opportunity for a future team split or add a new team in your area by...
